These Bright Pleasures
Under a sky-burst
At times the sky flares with joy,
leaking cinnamon and amber to edge my perspective.
I draw it up,
arms wide to the warmth,
and attend to simple pleasures:
The ocean that laps,
birds on a wing,
or petals in the breeze.
And thoughts of those I love mingle with garden jasmine and woodland oak.
I call them on the quantum internet of particles that swirl.
Their presence drapes across my shoulders like winter blankets by the fire.
And when the sunrise fades,
melted gold and vanilla saturate my footsteps on the tender earth.
