Three Lessons from Bodybuilding Which Will Make You a Better Writer

Although this connection may seem odd to you, there are several valuable lessons you can take from bodybuilding and translate them to make you a better writer. I used to hit the gym during university with some of my fellow students, and we pushed each other to get beach bodies. I do use some of the lessons still today, so I want to share them with you.

The first core lesson is named The Hurt Locker. Your writing will get better when it’s the hardest because this is where the progress happens. The second lesson is all about the importance of resting and relaxing to build creative and innovative ideas. The third lesson will cover the overall significance of your consistency to succeed.

I will explain these concepts in the following.

The Hurt Locker

The Hurt Locker is a paraphrase I took from a movie title. I recall the Hurt Locker as the state of pumping during exercises where your muscle begins to burn, and you think that you want to stop pumping for now.
