Through Frost, Toward Fire:

The Flame That Guides Us Home

In tides that give and tides that take,

I hear the rhythm of the break

How waves that crash against the shore

Return with shells and something more

For in the music of the sea,

In every leaf on every tree

That feeds the forest with its fall,

I see the truth that guides us all:

Love multiplies in letting go —

The more we share, the more we grow.

So too, does love flow out and in,

Each act of kindness wears paper-thin

The walls we build around our hearts;

Each gentle word somehow imparts

A healing to the self that gives and gives

Until in giving, we have learned to live.

Like morning mist that settles deep

In valleys where legends sleep,

Our love seeps into hidden plains

And returns to us in gentle rains,

Until we find, in giving grace

Our own flame sets our hearts ablaze.
