Certain foods and nutrients can help support your immune system. Drinks can be an easy way to add those nutrients to your diet and ensure that your immune system stays strong.
These drinks that we’re going to discuss today contain many immune-supporting nutrients, which can help keep your immune system strong. However, good immune systems start with good basic health.
A wide variety of foods, low stress levels, adequate sleep, and staying hydrated are all really important for your immune system.
1. Orange Juice:
One of the drinks you’ll hear about the most when it comes to helping your immune system is orange juice, which is a great source of vitamin C. There’s over 100 percent of your daily value in just one glass.
Vitamin C helps support your immune system; it may even help you make more white blood cells, which can fend off infections. However, research shows that vitamin C doesn’t protect you from getting sick. If you do have a cold, it may help shorten the duration of your symptoms.
Plus, orange juice is tasty, easy to find, and affordable.
2. Green Smoothie
Another drink that can help support your immune system is your green smoothie. So, by adding greens like spinach and kale, you’re getting all the nutrients those greens offer, like vitamin A, some more vitamin C, and beta-carotene, which can help support your immune system.
I’ve even added yogurt to this one, which is a good source of probiotics. Probiotics help keep your gut healthy, and a healthy gut is essential for an overall healthy immune system. You can also add berries to your smoothie, which boosts the vitamin C content.
This limits the immune-supporting nutrients you can add to your smoothie. You could throw in some seeds, which may give you more protein and healthy fats, so it’s a great, easy way to get those nutritious foods into your diet.
3. Green Tea
Another great beverage to try is green tea. Green tea delivers antioxidants and may be anti-inflammatory. Those antioxidants, specifically epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), may help keep your immune system healthy. If you do start to feel a little bit sick, green tea can be really soothing. It’s warm and comforting, and if you add honey to it, that may help with symptoms of a sore throat.
4. Ginger Juice or Tea
Another drink that’s great for your immune system is ginger or ginger juice. You may find it sold in little juice shots, or you can make your own ginger tea by steeping fresh ginger in boiling water.
Ginger is also loaded with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It’s believed that by reducing inflammation in the body, ginger helps support a healthy immune system.
5. Chamomile Tea
Don’t forget about sleep when it comes to your immune system. That’s why I recommend chamomile tea. Chamomile tea doesn’t have any caffeine; it’s an herbal tea, and if you drink it in the evening, it can actually help you get a better-quality night’s sleep.
Again, sleep helps keep your immune system running as strong as possible, and not getting enough sleep messes with your body’s immune system. So, having chamomile tea in the evening may help you get more sleep, keeping your immune system as strong as possible.

Say ‘No’ To
1. Alcohol
Now, those are all drinks that can help support your immune system, but one drink you want to stay away from when it comes to immune health is alcohol. Alcohol can dampen our body’s ability to fight off infections, and it’s not great for our immune system.
We know that drinking alcohol, incredibly close to bedtime, impairs our ability to get a good night’s sleep, and we know that sleep is essential for immune health. So, if you’re looking to stay healthy, you may want to say no to those alcoholic beverages.
2. Red Wine
Even though red wine has antioxidants, you’re better off sticking to some of those other antioxidant-rich beverages we’ve talked about when it comes to that immunity boost. You’re better off just skipping the alcohol and trying to get your antioxidants from other sources. We know that alcohol doesn’t support a healthy immune system.
Many of these beverages can help support your immune system and provide important nutrients, like vitamin C and antioxidants, that we know help keep our immune system healthy. Remember, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on supplements to keep your immune system healthy.
