In this article, I talked about how to survive a long-haul flight.

I believe another tip deserves a whole article of its own which is incorporating long layovers into your travel plans. This gives you a chance to visit a new country or city, even if it is for a short period of time.

On a trip from Australia, I had an 18-hour layover in Taipei, Taiwan, and this is how I spent it.

Hour 1–3: Arrived at Taoyuan airport in the early morning. I got through security and got my visa stamped on arrival. Here is a list of countries that get a visa on arrival for entry into Taiwan. This would be my first time using a passport that allows access to multiple countries. Still, the conversation of weak passports hindering travel and the hoops holders of stronger passports would never understand a story for a different day.
