Tune Up Your Life
The power of the off switch
With so much negativity in today’s society, who doesn’t want more positivity in their life? There is a way to escape much of this harmful exposure. Let’s look at how we can tune it out.
What can you control?
Modern life bombards us daily with negativity, assaulting us from every direction. Open a newspaper or launch a news app, and prepare to be assaulted by the media’s sensationalistic headlines. This constant exposure isn’t just annoying; it fuels the growing epidemics of anxiety and depression.
But here’s a question worth asking: “Are we partly to blame?” Too many of us crave the drama. Sadly, negative news boosts ratings and media profits.
The good news? You can control what you let in if you choose to.
Tuning out the negative
The sheer volume of content today has given rise to a media industry that thrives on the worst of humanity. Mainstream outlets appear to be obsessed with conflict, disaster, and division. The barrage of stories about crime, corruption, and chaos is relentless and exhausting.
“The media dwells mostly on negativity.” — Bill Parcells
