Two Deer

A morning’s grace.

I had just poured my first cup of coffee this morning and was about to go upstairs to begin my morning devotions when I saw movement through the window beside the door. I could only see four legs moving cautiously.

I went quickly to the living room window, but the deer had disappeared around the corner of the garage.

Just then, another bounded through the neighbor’s yard across the street. It paused briefly at the edge of the street, perhaps sensing me watching, then proceeded down the middle of the street.

What a delight. We often see deer in our neighborhood. It has several parks and a couple of large, wooded areas and swamps. White Bear Lake lies just down the hill.

I think our heard numbers around seven. Once I saw two bucks in the backyard, one near the porch munching on my wife’s hydrangeas, the other, more cautious, standing on the hill behind our house.

Another time we saw a doe feeding her two fawns in our backyard.

I love seeing deer. They are such graceful animals.

My Muse is in hiding, but we cross paths from time to time. I think I gave the old guy too much grief. Maybe he quit without notice.
