The Beginning — A Night in Sabino Canyon
It’s February 2019. Darkness arrives at 5 o’clock here in Tucson. The Shop at the health and wellness center where I work is open until 9:00 PM. On occasion, it’s quiet and sometimes slow, and there are times when I have the opportunity to reflect on my life.
My mind wanders. For the past couple of years, I have taken some of the classes offered here that have led to my growth. I’ve dwelled in a somber place for many years. Now, I am approaching the light.
On this particular night, I am thinking about love, about my life, and about who I have loved in my 60-plus years on Earth. My 22-year marriage ended 10 years ago. It’s taken me all this time to realize there is more to life than how I’ve been living. I’ve been in the darkness long enough. It’s time to return to the joyful, adventurous, and loving person I am.
I remembered the one man who loved me, who really loved me. At this moment I enjoyed the profound feeling of being in love with him too! We were high school sweethearts. That euphoric feeling led me to wonder what Bruce was…
