Unbreakable

There are cracks is the path we lay
that our memories cannot see clearly from this far.

Compassion gives the means to burn the challenges
that build up and make them fade like a dream.

Defending regrets with the listening that is incomplete.
The limits of confidences, the secrets that we keep.

When contentment is gone it is difficult to know where we belong.
Must we get out of the way of the knowledge that breaks a broken heart?

Imagining avoidance when life feels too long to live this way.
Misdirection is not the end of the joy that cannot find us now.

Emotions used up like the song that is unsung today.
Will yesterday’s promise force all that remains to go astray?

Unlikely, when there is a life for you to live again.
Life can restrain the courage within and contradict the right to decide.

Recognise that you are stronger than the chains of self-doubt.
