Recently, I’ve been looking for new hobbies to fill my time. I want something different to dedicate my mind to as I wait for the next semester to start. I never really thought about how Chess works. I just know that smart people play it. My approach to Chess kind of started as a joke, actually because as I look bitterly into my past and hopefully into my future I wonder to myself how many queens can a king actually have?

As it turns out in the game of Chess, a king can have in fact, more than one. A pawn can actually be promoted into a queen or any other piece. However, it is suggested to promote your pawn into a queen since it is the most powerful piece in the game — running contrary to the common misconception that the king is the most powerful piece; however, his movement is limited to only one move at a time in any given direction in comparison to the queen — who can move at any length in any direction to capture her opponents in the game to protect the king.

I began to look deeper into the game of Chess and realized that the most powerful pieces are probably the most overlooked in real life. The queen can move anywhere on the board with the fused power of a rook and a bishop that moves both vertically, horizontally, and diagonally.
