A trinitarian was once confronted by the self-contradictory character of the Trinity doctrine.

“Not at all contradictory,” said he, “it is only like a thing that I have just seen in the street — three men riding in one cart.

The Trinity is one of the most wide-reaching and misunderstood doctrines of modern Christianity.

The clear majority of Christian denominations and 7 out of 10 Americans overall believe there is one true God and that he exists in three persons. In other words, they believe in the doctrine of the Trinity. The doctrine, though wide-reaching and already sewn into the fundamentals of many Christian views, remains the cause of much debate and confusion.

How can one be three and still unified? How can an inseparable, irreducible God have any parts? How can three persons be one being?
