Work less, get more.

Why do some people find it easier to do something, while others struggle to do it?

Have you ever asked yourself that question?

Why do YOU find yourself so good at doing some tasks, while not being able to do other tasks? is that something innate in us humans, or is it because of something far more complicated?

You are now sitting in a room, with a computer in front of you, you stay there for hours watching movies, and then you get hungry, and then you standup, you go straight to the kitchen, open the fridge, find the most delicious food, grab it, eat it, and now, you are not hungry anymore.

You successfully completed a task, you don’t know how you did it, and if you were asked you’d say, It’s obvious.

Now, while you were in the task of getting yourself unhungry, someone on the other side of the world was doing something (that you mark as) far more complicated, FOR A LIVING.

The thing is, if you asked him about the difficulty of the tasks he’s doing, his answer would be that it’s so easy for him, at least easier than it is for you.

Why is that so? Why can’t everybody be good at everything?

Is It possible to make yourself able to do anything as if you did it for hundreds of times?

YES, IT IS.

And there is a neurological reason behind that, which I can’t explain fully, otherwise the article would be so long & no one would read it (I’ll soon write a book just for that). But I also can’t completely avoid it.

Here is the simple explanation for what happens in your brain when you do a specific task :

I won’t get into neural networks to explain this, because then, people who don’t know what a neural network is won’t understand,

Instead, I’ll try to explain it in a way that everyone can understand.

Your brain is like an intersection of roads, with vehicles crossing them all the time, and on each vehicle, there is a human behind the steering wheel.

Each human tries to find the closest and most energy efficient way to where he wants to go, and with time, he’ll find it, and then he’ll start taking the same way every day.

  1. The vehicles represent electricity on the brain.
  2. The roads represent neural pathways.
  3. The best roads represent the ego that your brain developed.

Successful people have the right roads for success.

And unsuccessful people have the right roads for failure.

What you wanna do is make your roads better :)

You may think that it takes time to find the right roads to success, but it doesn’t.

Because the people behind the steering wheel only remember the roads that give them the highest amount of pleasure in the end so that they can cross them again whenever they need to grab a beer,

Which I don’t recommend by the way :)

So what should you do then to accelerate your way into finding the right roads? You make the task enjoyable, right? exactly!

But not the in a way you think.

People behind the steering wheel won’t remember the path to a nightclub if they find a better one.

While people driving in the poorest countries will remember the path to a small well with free water.

So in order to remember all the good roads to your task, just add some pain to your daily life.

  1. take cold showers to make your brain feel the pleasure in doing hard things.
  2. fast regularly, Ahhmm Steve Jobs to make your brain feel the pleasure in creating one of the biggest companies in the world.
  3. workout like hell to make your brain feel the pleasure in working for a whole night without boredom nor tiredness.

See the connection here? making drivers remember the best roads to pleasure is about making 90% of the roads painful.

If you start doing these 3 painful things regularly for a year, you’ll become able to do anything you want as if you are doing it for the thousandth time,

Because the drivers behind the steering wheel will become able to cross any road, and not just the roads that lead to the most pleasure. Got It?

And your brain will learn everything you need to succeed, because for him, what you do is pleasure, and the roads for it should be traced carefully :)
