A 16-year-old girl was reported missing by her parents on November 2nd out of Ashville, North Carolina. On Thursday, a motorist in Laurel County, Kentucky, called 911 after spotting a distressed teen in a vehicle on the highway.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, the caller noticed the teen using a hand gesture he had seen on Tik Tok. A viral video showed hand gestures that indicate that someone needs help or is experiencing domestic violence. The video has now been shared over 130,000 times. In another Tik Tok video, a woman demonstrates the use of the hand gesture to subtly alert others that she is in need of help.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the missing 16-year-old in the vehicle of 61-year-old, Herbert Brick. Investigators found photos of teens engaged in sexual acts in the man’s possession. According to reports, Bricks initially drove the teen to Ohio, where his relatives immediately expressed concern after noticing the age of the young girl and that she had been reported missing. He left Ohio with the teen before being stopped in Kentucky.
