We’re waiting for things and people a lot longer than we used to. We wait for packages to arrive, store shelves to be refilled, the weather to change, late buses, trains, planes, and people. Unlike Godot, most of the things we are waiting for arrive — eventually.

Waiting is the distance between what we want and its fulfillment. We fret, fume, and fill the waiting time…
