Want Stress In Your Life, Try Gardening!
I couldn’t believe it, in my late 70’s I took up gardening and I was loving it!
I looked at retirement like Mark Twain looked at the weather — “I did a lot of talking about it but I did nothing about it.”
Truth be told, I snuck into the office 2 or 3 times a week just because I’d been doing it for 40+ years. The other 4 or 5 days I thought about going in but didn’t — because I was retired.
Oh, I saw the kids and grandkids and loved those times, but I was realistic in understanding they had their own lives to live. Isn’t that what we spend 18 years doing? Parenting so they can enjoy functioning on their own? Leave the emotional nest and the physical?
My Story About Gardening:
Simon, also recently retired but handling it well, told me I should take up gardening.
He’s wise, so I thought about it.
Would it be a sissy thing for me to do?
Maybe flowers would be.
I made up my mind:
I’d start a vegetable garden.
Lots of YouTube videos got me acquainted with the process.
