Life is hard and here are the 11 life lessons from Mark Manson on how to achieve success in the digital age.

1. Learn how to write well.

Great writing never goes out of style.

Manson has a great writing voice and he is skilled at telling stories in his blog posts. He also loves to read fiction and psychology books. And he still write blog posts on his website and medium. As a result, he is one of the most popular bloggers right now.

If you know how to write well, you can change the actions of other people.

2. Create a YouTube channel to build an online audience.

Manson started out as a blogger but right now, he has a YouTube channel that talks about personal development.

His channel will teach you how to become more successful. As a result, you will be motivated to take action. But you need to do the work if you want to see any improvement.

An online audience will help you spread your ideas.

3. Avoid victim mentality and take responsibility for your own life.

Victim mentality will ruin your life.

The cure to victim mentality is personal responsibility. If you take responsibility for your problems, you will become more successful and you will gain more confidence. Remember, nobody cares about your dreams except you.

Work hard because a great work ethic will teach you the value of self-discipline.

4. Read books outside of your lane.

If you want to become a great writer, you need to read awesome books.

Manson love to talk about creativity, psychology, and personal development. He is a fan of Stumbling on Happiness by Daniel Gilbert and Think Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. The best writers understand human psychology. They know how to tell a great story and capture your attention.

Studying human nature will give you a competitive edge.

5. Consistency matters more than intensity.

Before Mark Manson became a New York Times Best-Selling Author, he started out as an online blogger.

He used to write a lot of articles about dating and relationships. Right now, he writes articles about personal development and creativity. And his blog is one of the most popular websites among the category of personal development.

Being consistent will help you make progress.

As gamers would like to say, “It’s a grind.”

6. Study marketing and copywriting if you want to attract new readers.

Aside from being a writer, Manson is also an entrepreneur and ghostwriter.

According to him, copywriting is a useful skill for any writer. If you study copywriting, you will learn how to write great leads. And you will also learn what motivates people to buy. A great sales letter can result in millions of sales.

Marketing your ideas will help you find people who share your interests.

7. The only failure is not trying.

Failure is part of success.

Amateurs like to avoid failure but successful people know that it is part of the game. For example, Manson failed in an e-commerce business but he became a successful writer and entrepreneur. The key to success is hard work and persistence.

If you avoid failure, you will also avoid success.

Keep trying and see what works for you.

8. Be the partner you want to have.

I have learned from Mark Manson the value of compatibility in relationships.

For example, it’s important that you and your partner have the same values. If your partner has a different values than you, the relationship won’t last. And trust and honesty will help you create a beautiful relationship.

The best relationships will teach you how to grow as a person.

9. You give power to who you blame.

Blaming is for losers.

Successful people take responsibility for take actions. They don’t blame their parents or cops. Most of them want to solve their own problems because they want to improve their lives.

Stop blaming other people for hurting you and choose the right group of friends.

10. F*ck being normal.

Mark Manson has written thousands of blog posts but he got famous for writing The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.

In other words, he is not normal. Normal people follow the rules all the time. But creative people master the rules and they love to break the rules. For example, most self-help books has a motivating tone in their books. But Manson has a funny tone in his writing.

As a result, people love him for being honest and witty.

11. Develop a willingness to be disliked.

If you are liked by everybody, it’s a problem.

Aristotle once said, “A friend to all is a friend to none.” Successful people are willing to be disliked and hated. For example, YouTubers have a lot of online haters and novelists have a lot of negative reviews on their books.

You can’t please everyone.

Be yourself even if the world hates you.
