The Trap of “Tutorial Hell”

After completing my economics degree, I delved deeper into data analytics.

With countless project ideas, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount to learn: Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Spark, and the list went on.

Like many aspiring learners, I fell into the trap of overconsuming tutorials. After all, seeing what others create expands our understanding, right?

Well, yes and no.

While exploring a few tutorials inspires, the sad reality is that we often get stuck in “tutorial hell” — consuming one tutorial after another without taking action.

My 4-Step System to Overcome Tutorial Overconsuming

I certainly found myself in this vicious cycle, but I discovered a way to overcome it — a system to manage myself effectively.

Here is the 4-step approach I use:

Step 1: Clarifying My Purpose

I get clear on my reason for learning any new skill or knowledge I want to acquire. What will I do with this knowledge?
