But Who, Exactly, are You Shaming?

Context

When I hear someone, even myself, in my own head, say things that don’t quite flesh out the full weight of my intent or thought process, I pause. Why? Words mean more than a string of syllables and phonetics. Words carry weight, and depending on who you are and how you’re viewed in your society, those words can cause damaging effects on someone’s soul.

Recently, I read an article by Allison Wiltz. https://momentum.medium.com/how-the-war-against-free-lunch-targets-black-school-children-e4ce7d468373

The article outlined the implications of rolling back school lunch entitlements needed by the forgotten youth, specifically, and the current political climate surrounding policies set in place to address the real food needs of children.

The article was full of researchable information which should give pause to anyone decrying how expensive it is to feed kids who may not otherwise have access to healthy meals, irrespective of whether they SHOULD already have access or not. The reality is, many times they don’t, and it shouldn’t be a barrier to learning. Kids are in school nearly 8 hours a day, for some, and so it stands to reason, the system can and should do something to intervene, where needed, to ensure kids are safe in every way.

I write and enjoy the world of allegory, female aging, relationship lessons, race predicaments and much more. Hopefully, at least one of my musings resonates!
