Wealth Or Knowledge —Knowledge Rules Over Things — Whereas Money Is Ruled Over:
Allah (swt) warned us that we do not merely carry knowledge without purpose. Allah described — those who possess the Holy books without understanding as like “donkeys that carry books on their backs”. The donkeys only carry it without understanding these books no matter how valuable, so utilizing the knowledge is critical.
“The likeness of those who were loaded with the Torah, but did not carry it, is like that of a donkey carrying books.” (Surah Al-Jumuaa:5)
Imam Ali (RA) was once asked by 10 learned scholars whether knowledge or wealth was better and why. They asked for an argument For each of them.
His answer was as Follows:
1. Knowledge is the inheritance of the Prophets while wealth is the inheritance of the Pharoahs. Therefore, knowledge is better than wealth.
2. You are to guard your wealth whereas knowledge guards you, so knowledge is better.
3. A man of wealth has many enemies, while a man of knowledge has many friends.
4.Knowledge is better as it increases with distributions, but wealth decreases by that act.
5. Knowledge is better as a learned man is apt to be generous while a wealthy person is apt to be miserly.
6.Knowledge is better as it cannot be stolen while wealth can be.
7. Time cannot harm knowledge but wealth rusts…
