Weekend Whimsy Leads to Soca Brunch, Surprise Movie Memories, and, Why Not, Karaoke
Then suddenly, I was singing the lyrics to a song I did not remember knowing.
This weekend, on a whim, I decided to break out of our routine. I booked a brunch reservation at a new neighborhood spot and snagged tickets to see “The Fall Guy” at the local AMC.
Let me be honest: This sudden urge to escape the house and drag my husband along was fueled by a desire to have a ready answer to the dreaded Monday morning question: “So, what’d you do this weekend?”
Besides, it’s good for us to get outside sometimes, you know, instead of glued to our phones, scrolling mindlessly, sending each other reels — real love.
Anyway, back to the story! The brunch at Maison Harlem was incredible! They even had a Caribbean music playlist going, which meant we practically dined to the best soundtrack for our Sunday afternoon — Kerwin Du Bois with “Life After Fete,” Wadick with “Beat Rum Bad,” and Nadia Batson with “Market.”
