The time for festivals is approaching all over the world.
Whether Christmas, Diwali, or New Year’s, festivals mean lots of sweets and treats.

So does this mean you will gain that weight and get a bit of fat on your body?
If you are reading this story, absolutely not!

I know that most people all over the world would gain a lot of weight during these last few months of the year because of all the celebrations and the sugar cravings, but what if I tell you that you won’t gain weight or any fat at all if you take up a few of my pieces of advice and apply them to your life?

However, before you set any unrealistic expectations, I should give you all a disclaimer…
I am not a fitness coach or an influencer; I am just a guy who was fat and turned fit with time and experience, and all the tips I give you are just based on my experience and body.
They may work wonders for you too, or they may not work at all, but it is all worth a try.

So, Krish What do you suggest?

Well, my suggestions are no more extraordinary than what most of the fitness influencers out there, nor am I going to give you any secret mantra that will keep the weight off, but I will go through all of those cliched tips once again for you in this story and add a bit of advice and tricks of my own that I developed over time with experience to achieve my goals.

So, what are how you can adapt yourself to keep off the increase in scale?

  1. Try eating less sugar. I know that it is celebration time, and everyone has sweets and cakes for celebrations, and nobody likes to be the spoilsport and not have the sweet treats.
All I am saying is that instead of having an entire bowl or plate of something, opt for something smaller. Like just a piece of chocolate instead of the entire bar or buying pastry that you can have as a one-time treat instead of an entire cake that will last you for days.
Alright, even I have sugar cravings, especially when I just start with a diet and it takes time to adapt. My advice to get rid of the cravings would be to opt for some fruit instead of a sugary treat or a candy bar whenever the craving hits.
  2. Try drinking a lot of water. Drinking a lot of water, especially lukewarm, and staying hydrated all the time is a great way to keep off hunger and sugar cravings. This is because a lot of the time, our bodies misunderstand the signal of thirst as a sign of hunger, causing you to take in those unwanted and unnecessary calories that cause weight gain.
Next time you feel like having a snack but don’t have the grumbling feeling in your stomach, try drinking a glass of water and see for yourself how you feel.
  3. Move a lot. Our bodies are meant to move a lot, walk, and run. During festivals, there are high chances that you might miss your workout and not be able to hit the gym for days at a stretch, but don’t get devastated about it.
    That happens to me too.
Instead, just try to burn your calories by walking and moving as much as possible.
Try helping with the decorations, going out to the supermarket to buy groceries, and doing all that stuff that you don't want to keep you moving. Also, try going for a 15–20-minute walk after each meal.
  4. Get your proteins! I know this might sound like a very fitness influencer thing to say, but try to get your minimum protein requirements fulfilled even during the celebrations.
Protein won’t just retain your muscles and avoid muscle loss, but after water, another great nutrient to keep hunger and sugar cravings at bay is to have enough protein.
Try taking your protein powder. Or if you are somebody like me who doesn’t depend on supplements for protein, try adding a little bit of protein to every meal of your day, either from a lean meat source or some plant-based source like nuts or legumes.
Also, try snacking on nuts instead of sugary treats whenever hunger hits.
  5. Rest Well. Another important aspect to avoid weight gain after those late-night parties and celebrations is to have a good quality and quantity of sleep.
Sleep won’t just keep your body fit, but having appropriate rest through sleep would also destroy all the unnecessary hunger and sugar cravings that an individual might have due to the lack of energy.

In the end, I would like to say that enjoy your cultures, your festivals, your time with your friends and families as much as possible and don’t be a spoilsport.
Have those pieces of chocolate or a slice of pastry, but in moderation, keeping your health and fitness goals in your mind.
And I would like to conclude by saying that …

“Fitness is not a goal, but a lifestyle. Live it, Enjoy it and keep doing it.”

And all the best for your journey.
Until then,
Happy Reading.
