COVID-19 is a new virus like the SARS, MERS, and Spanish Flu viruses. The symptoms we usually find are dry cough, fever, and shortness of breath. Meanwhile, signs that we rarely find are diarrhea and loss of taste or smell.

COVID-19, which causes SARS disease, can cause pneumonia and other severe respiratory problems if not treated quickly and appropriately. Also, SARS can cause respiratory failure, heart failure, liver failure, and death.

Similar to SARS, COVID-19 can also cause serious complications. This viral infection can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.

Those who are vulnerable to this virus are people over 40 years old. Mostly over 80 years old died because of COVID-19.

Until now, there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19 infection. However, you can find at least several ways to reduce the risk of contracting this virus. Besides, you can also strengthen your immune system by taking vitamins and supplements as a form of prevention from this virus.

Here’s what we can do to help others:

Remind Others About Mental Health

The COVID-19 pandemic threatens not only physical health but also the mental health of every individual. Not only fear, but the psychological effects it can cause can have serious consequences.

Various things can cause mental health problems that occur during a pandemic. Such as fear of the plague, isolation during quarantine, sadness, and loneliness due to being far from family or loved ones. Also, anxiety about the needs of daily life, plus confusion due to lack of information.

These not only affect people who already have mental health problems. Such as depression or generalized anxiety disorder; they can also affect physically and mentally healthy people.

And we can remind people of the importance of maintaining mental health during this pandemic. Then we need to:

  1. Do physical activity
  2. Eat nutritious foods
  3. Breaking bad habits
  4. Create your routine
  5. Maintain communication with family and friends

Donate Money

We help other people whose balance sheets are low. You can save some money for scavengers, beggars, and people with special needs. People who have special needs mean people who are blind and deaf. They need money to live life. Without money, they cannot fulfill their primary needs.

Donate Masks

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we need masks to avoid transmission. But, some sell them at high prices. Because they sell it for business profit. You don’t need to sell them. Just donate masks, for example, for pedestrians.

The masks that were donated were cloth masks. And the question is, why not a surgical mask? Because surgical masks are used for medical personnel. Medical personnel battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

Donate Personal Protective Equipment

In my country, the number of COVID-19 patients is increasing. Starting with people without symptoms and with the symptoms. Usually, people who have fatal symptoms are rushed to the hospital. And some hospitals lack personal protective equipment due to a large number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital.

We need to donate personal protective equipment to help the medical team there. What we can provide are eye protection, surgical masks, medical gloves, and so on.

Avoid Hoax News

Limit your time watching, reading, or hearing news about the pandemic, whether from television, print media, or social media, to reduce anxiety.

Even so, don’t shut yourself out entirely from important information. Sort the information you receive critically and wisely. Get information about the Coronavirus pandemic only from trusted sources.

During this pandemic, we are forced to do many activities at home. Activities that are positive and useful for us. Usually, I increase the abilities that I haven’t learned before. Even though the house is a place where we will be more productive. Especially for introverts, they will enjoy being productive at home.
