Having a story go viral is like finding the holy grail of writing. The question is, what does it take to increase the chances?

My view, based on real experience, is that one way to go viral is to write a story on a hot topic with a very unique angle. That is what you might call a two-pronged attack at the objective.

For example, the very first story of mine that went viral was ‘How My Wife’s Affair Saved My Life.’

I think what piqued the readers' interest was that headline, capturing the idea of a negative event unexpectedly having a very beneficial positive outcome.

However, effective as the story was in gaining the attention of a curious audience, in comparison, the next story blew that first one into the weeds stats-wise. Just take a glance at those second-story figures below, followed by a link to the story.
