What Most People Won’t (And Can’t) Tell You About Breath Mindfulness
It cultivates a profundity you can’t even imagine
The Buddha once said that just the correct practice of mindfulness of breathing could lead you to the end of the path. For a technique so simple, can you even imagine what the experience of its development would be like?
“Correct practice” doesn’t seem to cut it.
You’d have to know a library’s worth of embodied wisdom – from correct motivation to calibrating perception to controlling one’s internal energy levels.
For years, I studied with teachers of Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism, trying to learn how this simple practice can be fully realized. I’ve read dozens of books and put in hundreds of hours of practice. I’ve even taught the basics (successfully) to particularly difficult family members.
I haven’t reached the end of the path, so perhaps I should go back offline, onto my cushion. But just as I felt frustrated with the lack of nuanced information available, I know others are going through confusion right this moment.
So, I would like to share the tip of the iceberg that I’ve learned so far. I hope it’ll inspire you to explore the fullness of your own depths.
