When Giving Up Is The Wisest Choice You Can Make For Your Life

Guess what? I’m here to tell you that giving up isn’t as terrible as it sounds. In fact, there are instances when giving up is the best course of action in your life.

However, when I was younger, I don’t think a day went by in my high school gym class where the opposite wasn’t drilled into every fiber of my being. No pain no gain. 2nd place is the 1st loser.

Walter, no one likes a quitter.

Ultimately they all amount to the same mantra. Don’t give up, persist. No matter the cost.

And therein lies the rub. Sometimes the cost is exactly the point.

I’m here to tell you there are occasions when this persistence — that refusal or inability to let go — keeps us from progressing and discovering happiness. Every one of us will encounter a variety of life circumstances that force us to decide whether to keep trying or give up, professional aspirations, artistic dreams, and relationships with family and friends.

Sometimes keeping up the effort will be the best course of action. Sometimes, though, it simply won’t be.
