It’s easy to feel like a loser when we feel like nobody and have nothing.

This sentiment hit close to home recently for my best friend. She felt insecure seeing others’ lives on social media.

A few months ago, she quit her job and has been struggling to find a new one. Meanwhile, her friends are showing off their careers and achievements on Instagram.

I believe everyone has low points, including her friends, but only the good things are posted on social media. However, she doesn’t think that way. She thinks everyone’s life is fine except hers.

And that’s the problem. When we see others’ perfect lives all the time, it makes it hard to accept our own.

She thinks people shouldn’t show off their achievements on social media because it can make others, like herself, feel bad. I agree, but isn’t it society that makes them do this?

The Narcissistic Era

We are living in a narcissistic era, when many people crave admiration because their self-worth depends on how society perceives them.
