I doubt anyone under the age of 60 has heard of or knows about this gentleman. History, which some wish to eliminate or change, is who we were and who we are. Joe E Brown was the epitome of an old-style baseball player, comedian, and actor.

He had no training for anything but instead simply did what he enjoyed and could get paid to do. And he did a wide variety of things, all very well. By his 40s, he had become one of the top 10 paid actors in Hollywood, a well-known actor in Broadway plays, a hugely popular standup comedian, a professional baseball player, and so much more.

And you never heard of him? That just ain't right. So here's a bit about him.

Joe E. Brown. (2023, January 14). In Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_E._Brown

He made people laugh by simply entering a room … a funny guy, an actor, a vaudeville comedian, an acrobat, and … something I never knew about him… a baseball player, student, and aficionado. Two things in life he loved were making people laugh and baseball.

He was born in 1891 and passed in 1973. By the 1930s, he became one of America's best-known comedians and starred in almost a dozen movies back then. It was said he only had to walk into a room and smile, and people knew who he was immediately. And the entire room would smile.
