Why Aren’t Concerts Professionally Live Streamed?
I’m not much of a concert-goer. I prefer not to hear my neighbor singing or rapping off-key in my ear. I prefer to not have people standing in front of me, blocking my view. I prefer to not be so far away that I have to use the monitor to see.
I enjoy watching live performances on awards shows. I loved Beyonce Bowl.
Why isn’t that the norm?
I went to the Essence Festival last Summer for Usher’s performance, where he performed only and all the songs from his Confessions album — arguably one of the greatest R&B albums of the 21st century.
I had a great floor seat…so I thought. I was on the front row of the second section of floor seats. When I tell you that security did NOT do their job of keeping that walkway clear! I was HOT! I ended up with people in front of me like I was standing at Coachella. I watched most of the performance seated in my chair looking at the monitor. My neighbors and I grew tired of asking people to move. It was not good.
I paid about $600 for the ticket. I drove, which cost about $100 in gas, but I got my car serviced before the trip, which cost a grip. I stayed two nights in a hotel, which cost me about $300. (I stayed outside the city.) For $1,000, I had a disappointing concert experience.
