Why I Think The Democrats Have Found Their Quarterback
And now it’s time for the ‘Hail Mary’ to Ms Harris for the electoral touchdown.
A few weeks ago I suggested the Democrats could probably win the US election but it would mean sidelining Joe Biden and getting in two types of Brady. Tom — for calling the shots, and Graham for shooting the elderly ‘old yeller’ style out the back of the Capitol.
The Democrats now need someone that can fulfil a quarterback function as November approaches. The plays are getting tight and key decisions have to be correct and there’s little room for error.
After listening to the very sharp Nancy Pelosi on a few podcasts and reading about Chuck Schumer’s consistency in winning elections — I dared to suggest one or both of these may play a key part in what is to come. Neither is particularly popular — but they don’t have to be, they only have to be one step ahead of the Trumpublicans.
I now think there’s a sharp mind at the helm of the Democrat ship with a clear idea of how to win. You might disagree, everyone is entitled to speculate in their own way — and the comments section is open for people of all political persuasions to throw down their two cents.
Here are three reasons why I think the Democrats are beginning to turn a corner.
Joe Biden doesn’t quit when everyone thinks he will
I play poker — I was playing last night in fact and poker can often be won or lost by making the right call at the right time. The game swings by chance and by choice. You have to know when to stick and you have to know when to fold.
The Democrats just folded Joe Biden.
But I’ve been following various podcasts over the last few weeks and there has been a lot of buzz about Biden quitting. Everyone was certainly clamouring for him to do so — everyone but Biden that is. Nobody really knew what Biden was going to do. If Biden was to be believed, he would stay on and tank his legacy.
Frustrations ran wild.
