I currently work as an innovation lead in finance in an asset management firm. For me, the journey into innovation management has been a seamless progression from my previous role at Microsoft, where I was deeply immersed in the digital transformation strategy of my clients. My time at Microsoft was a transformative experience, giving me invaluable insights into the power of innovation to drive change and progress. As I transitioned into innovation management, I brought with me the conviction that innovation is not just a buzzword but a tangible force that can shape industries and revolutionize the way we do business. This firsthand experience in the realm of digital transformation strategy made innovation management the next organic step in my career, allowing me to combine my strategic mindset with my passion for innovation.

1. Driving Change and Progress

One of the most compelling reasons for me to pursue a career in innovation management was the opportunity to be at the forefront of driving change and progress. Innovation managers are catalysts for transformative ideas and solutions. They have the power to shape the future by identifying opportunities, developing creative strategies, and implementing innovative projects that can revolutionize industries and improve the lives of people worldwide.

2. Problem-solving and Creativity

Innovation management is inherently rooted in problem-solving and creativity. This is what tickled my fancy! Whether it involves developing new products, processes, or business models, as an innovation lead I am constantly seeking inventive solutions that can create value, drive success, and resonate with the business strategy.

3. Diverse and Exciting Projects

Innovation management careers are characterized by diversity and excitement. For me it allows me to show other people that value-driven work can be super fun and rewarding! Professionals in this field often work on a wide range of projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams and exploring different industries. This diversity allows individuals to continuously learn, adapt, and expand their knowledge and skills, making each day unique and engaging.

4. Global Opportunities

Innovation knows no boundaries. The innovation ecosystem is global. For me, it gives me an opportunity to work with diverse professionals in different walks of life and in different geographical locations. Pursuing a career in innovation management opens doors to global opportunities.

5. Personal Rewards

As an innovation lead, I get to directly influence and shape both the existing and the future business strategy. Contributing directly to corporate profitability and ESG goals is something that I find rewarding.

Innovation management is not just a career; it is a calling for those who are passionate about driving change, solving complex problems, and shaping the future. Pursuing a career in innovation management offers individuals the chance to be at the forefront of progress, tap into their creative potential, work on diverse and exciting projects, seize global opportunities, gain a competitive advantage, enjoy financial rewards, and experience meaningful career growth. For those like me with a desire to make a difference and leave a lasting impact, innovation management is a rewarding and fulfilling career choice.
