Let me ask you a bold question:
Would you prefer having 100,000 followers on social media or $100,000 in your bank account?
I don’t know about you, but I prefer the latter.
Listen: There are two types of content creators. Those who look at their follower count and those who don’t.
And I see some skeptics coming:” Yeah, but YOU Matt Giaro don’t have a lot of followers. This is probably why you spit on your follower count…”
And you know what? That’s probably true.
Vanity metrics are always good for the ego. I doubt that anybody would deliberately spit on a huge social media following. But we all agree that humans are not created equal. Some people have the charisma, the body, and the traits to federate a large group of people. And other poor fools like me don’t.
What I’ve learned from successful people and mentors is this: You could either try (and fail) to be somebody you aren’t, or you could simply be yourself and bet on your strengths rather than your weaknesses.
