Why Misunderstanding? The 9 Challenges of Good Communication
We’ve all been in that situation where, after having a misunderstanding with someone, you find yourself alone wondering :
“How did it escalate that fast? How is it that we couldn’t understand each other?”
The easy answer would be taking for granted that the other person is closed-minded. That he doesn’t want to understand you. That he’s doing it on purpose.
But what if it was more complex than that?
Let’s not forget that we’re all here for the same thing: to be happy.
I don’t think anyone deeply likes to be in confrontation with something or someone.
As an expedition Leader, it’s something I have to deal with very often: how to make sure that people can communicate and feel comfortable saying what they feel.
Could you imagine being with someone you can’t stand for two weeks while being on a sailboat sailing in the middle of the ocean and having nowhere else to go/escape?
Well, one of my roles is to make sure such a situation doesn’t arise.
But let’s face it, miscommunication is a fact.
