Why No One Wants to Stay Put at Work Anymore

Lately, I’ve been noticing something: people just don’t seem happy at work.
My daughter works as an investment analyst at a wealth management firm. The hours can be long. The pay is solid. They go into the office three days a week and work from home the other two. Still, people keep walking out the door. One young woman, a real asset to the company, is leaving after only 18 months. Another didn’t even make it a year — he quit after nine months and gave up his signing bonus. Someone else is already moving on after eight months.
The reasons are all over the place. Some were frustrated they didn’t get promoted. Some left to become teachers. Others went back to grad school. A few just jumped to another company that offered a little more money.
