Why Social Media Is Disconnecting People & Creating A Greater Divide
Reflections on why social media is eating away at society.
Social media is failing society as a whole in every country around the globe.
This morning, my wife shared something on her Instagram about the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. Within the hour of posting it someone my wife grew up with decided to drop into my wife’s DM’s and tell her how much she disapproved of Charlie Kirk and my wife’s viewpoints.
My wife does not hide where she stands on things, but in this particular post, she’s just sharing the sadness that we felt from this tragedy.
Yet, this person who reached out to my wife, felt the need to condemn everything about Charlie Kirk and everything about my wife and I. She went on to be disrespectful, rude, and even aggressive in her explanations of why she shared what she shared.
At no point did my wife look to argue with her because it would’ve been senseless. The unfortunate part about all this is that over the last five years. This particular person has dropped into her DM’s and my DM’s to tell us that we when she think we are wrong and spends more time condemning us than having a conversation.
