Why Wasn’t It That Way All Along?
Everybody has an opinion. Here’s mine. A reaction/response to SCOTUS decision to overturn Affirmative Action.
This article is a reaction/response to an article published here on Medium by former POTUS Obama and a question asked on Quora by Black History and Politics
- Our Statements On the U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision To Overturn Affirmative Action

Here’s the thing. The United States of America has as its foundation for nation-building, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
If America had NOT IGNORED these documents, Jim Crow laws would have never existed. There would be no reservations for Native Americans, no wards for Negroes, etc. They would have been no reason for Plessy versus Ferguson, to argue against that “separate but equal” BULL CRAP!
“Plessy v. Ferguson was case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States on May, 18, 1896 that ruled that “separate, but equal” facilities were constitutional. This case was overturned by Brown v. Board of Education in 1954.” (Source)
