Ok, here we are. A global pandemic.

On the surface, it was (and still is) a public health emergency and a nightmare that revealed global issues that need attention even during normal operations.

Below the surface though, it revealed a slew of personal issues that were the result of isolation, quarantine, and distancing. When countries announced lockdown, our relationships were tested. When companies announced mandatory remote work, our time management was tested. When schools announced online classes — our sanity was severely tested.

Keeping us away from loved ones and societal support systems was a disaster for our mental health. Panic attacks became commonplace. Depressive overeating became the norm. Uncertainty and the lack of control caused even the best of us to give up on our positivity.

Anxiety? Check!

Stress? Check!

Mental exhaustion? Check!

May is Mental Health Awareness month and it could not have come at a more appropriate time.
