Which do you think is better? Hard work or smart work?

We’ve all heard people say “You must work hard to be successful” or “work smarter, not harder.”

I believe the key to success lies in using both of these philosophies.

The Power of Hard Work

There’s a reason why hard work and diligence are valued. People think hard work builds character, resilience, and a deeper understanding of your job or craft. They also believe that persistence, like learning from mistakes, and refining skills is the key to success.

In fact, I’ve often heard people saying you can’t succeed without failure. And then they spout off about Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and so on. But they don’t really understand the lesson behind working hard.

The work hard idea is bad thinking. The whole you must suffer to be successful is not always the right mindset to have.

Imagine a boxer that only works on his right punch THE KO PUNCH! They have a one punch KO right hand! However, this is not enough to be the heavyweight champion of the world. Well, it won’t last for long anyway. They need more than that hard work they put in to getting that punch just right.
