Would that man have eaten anything?
A real-life story that will change the way you think.
Two days ago, I went to a grocery store in the evening. That was an ordinary store and there were some customers too. So I didn't hurry and was waiting for the shop owner to ask me “yes sir what do you want “.
I started staring at the grocery present in that shop. An uncle was doing the same thing I was doing.
Then the owner made a facial gesture with his eyebrows and said yes!!.
I replied that I want 1 packet of brown bread. He handed me that and I paid him.
While I was waiting to get my change. That uncle asked for a packet of bread but he then added only to give a small one.
That uncle took his bread after payment and walked out of the store.
I saw him going into a Dhaba “small restaurant in India".
I wondered, what if he is going to eat bread with tea for dinner?
I asked myself Should I help him?
But I went to my house instead of going after him.
I told the whole scenario to my parents, and they suggested that I could help him.
I exactly don’t know whether he was going to eat tea and bread or he needed bread to finish the daal he ordered at that dhaba.
I ain’t pointing out the poverty in our country.
Maybe I was misinterpreting him.
Maybe his wife was out of town so he had to eat at Dhaba.
But what if he hasn’t eaten anything since morning and now he managed some money to buy a packet of bread?
I wish he is fine now. But the only thing I was thinking about the whole night was the reason that held me back to help him. What was the reason that stopped me to be kind to him? Why I couldn't able to approach him?
We as a human don't hesitate to hurt but to help sometimes.
Be kind. Be helpful.
