Write Like It’s Just Two of You in the Room
The key to connecting with your readers
Writing is communicating, and the point of every exchange is for the person on the other end to receive the information you’re giving out. You don’t want a situation where you’re trying to communicate, and the person on the other end doesn’t feel like they’re the one you’re talking to.
I’ll ask this question. When you talk to someone, what pronouns do you use? Do you use “they/their” or “you/your?”
It’s obviously the latter because that’s more personal. This is how you should see all your communications online. Yes, you may address a large crowd, but the large crowd is not reading it simultaneously. They are reading alone on their screens.
It’s like you want to connect with that one person.
So do it.
Thank you for reading.
