Don’t wait for these people to find you — they’re looking, but it might take forever
It’s hard enough making a living as a writer, so why would anyone turn down money they’ve legitimately earned? Maybe they don’t know it’s there. I don’t have a simple answer, but I know how you can get your hands on it.
Your writing is accessible around the world, and people use it. They copy it, scan it, use it in lessons or presentations — and many of them are already paying a fee to do this. They don’t know you. You don’t know them. So they can’t pay you directly. But there is a worldwide network that collects and distributes money to writers for the secondary use of their work.
