Writers On Medium Are In Need Of Clarity
It’s The Least We Deserve
It seems like a day doesn’t go by without one or two posts about what is, or more to the point, is not happening on Medium these days. I myself have made some observations about what might be going on, even though I am always a little unsure about the wisdom of making any sort of criticism.
The fact is none of us like to be spoken about in a critical way and Medium is no exception. It is to be hoped that the powers that be are open-minded enough to take on board what people are saying without feeling the need to make a knee-jerk reaction and shoot the messenger.
The current problem is that writers are not making the sort of money they once did, and they would like to know why. A Medium higher-up said that Medium is not a charity, it is a business and needs to be run along those lines if it is to survive. Many a writer could lay equal claim to this way of thinking.
It has been claimed that the present problem is not about money per se. It is about trying to rid the platform of Spammers and Scammers. If that is the case then one has to ask why so many authentic writers seem to have come under fire. Many have not taken that well, which is understandable.
