If you want to truly have the power to achieve in your life, you have to be motivated by more than just yourself. You need to serve something higher, be it The Creator, Jesus, Nirvana, Muhammed, the Force or whatever you want to call it. Some people are content to serve family. Others feel a calling to benefit humanity, and some believe they are called to make a more global contribution. It’s all good, so long as you are serving more than just yourself.

Serving something bigger than yourself puts your life into perspective. It makes you feel connected to society and the world. It can also inspire you to keep creating and can inspire others. Sure, you do your job and that brings a financial reward. However you are not the center of the universe. Connecting outside your own existence allows you to begin to comprehend the force that you are as part of this immense world. You can understand the ways that you serve through your work, no matter what work you do.
