Life is expensive, that’s one thing we can all agree on. Trying to save for the future while still leading a fun and meaningful life can feel paradoxical. And while I’m not an expert in personal financing, I am an advocate of minimalism and have seen firsthand how a little can go a long way.

Similarly, the little things we buy every day add up and might be the reason why we can’t save our pennies. My spending habits are not perfect but the following list includes ten things I don’t spend my money on and approximately how much you could save if you don’t either.

Binge Drinking

Let’s talk about the rising price of alcohol because, holy hell, I went out drinking in Boston for the first time in a long time and couldn’t believe I spent thirty bucks on one watered-down mixie and a Blue Moon.

It seems like the average price of a mixed drink in Massachusetts is anywhere between $8 and $18, while individual beers can cost anywhere between $3 and $10. Wine, I don’t drink but I imagine it’s more than beer.
