Well, I have to say that I love the new rollout of the Medium Partner Program. It is really feeling more and more like a writer’s community. Now, there is something that I want to announce here about what that means for me with my followers, especially new followers.

Every day I get notifications about new followers. I actually check them out before I follow back. Here are a few key things that I consider before following back.

1. Are they paying members? You know, that little yellow star after their name? If not, I don’t follow back. I don’t really have enough time to read their stories, and if I did, I would be short-changing those followers who have paid their membership fees.
2. I won’t follow back writers who are all about crypto or listing X amount of ways to make my life better. I am old and I don’t have time for that kind of nonsense. Yes, I know, those stories likely earn the most money. Personally, I like stories that tell me about the writer — poetry, fiction [yes, the author is there in the fiction stories], photography, travel, and non-fiction.
