The goodies in movies are charming, brave, generous, thoughtful, pretty, handsome, kind, helpful — all the good sides of the human psyche. The baddies are mean, greedy, egotistical, narcissistic, selfish, ugly and ruthless. They have all the bad sides of the human psyche.

The goodie or baddie may thrive in the dream world they live in, but these extreme personalities would be at a loss in society. The reason why is that they have no balance. They are either the essence of goodness, unable to do anything wrong. Or, they ooze evil, seemingly incapable of doing anyone or anything any good.

But there are lots of people in the real world who have certain traits that dominate their persona. Let’s take a positive personality trait; generosity. What’s wrong with being generous, you might ask? Being generous is a good trait; wanting to share is something we teach children and is encouraged. Yet, there is a danger of being too generous. If you don’t have much but give it away and end up suffering as a result, then your generosity is harmful. Generosity is a strength, but if you are too generous, it can also be a weakness.
