When I decided to get fit, I went on YouTube to find some workouts. But immediately, I faced an unexpected problem: There were hundreds of different workout styles. And every YouTuber swore his exercises would be the most effective. Foolish as I was, I just took a random video to follow. Obviously, I didn’t achieve what I expected. I wasn’t informed about workout types and their effects on my body.

During the lockdown, I hear from several people that they try to become more sportive. So they choose some random workouts, like I did as a beginner. Here is a quick overview to find the exercise that can make your goal come true.

Goal One: A More Active and Healthy Lifestyle

If you want to live healthier and happier and don’t aim to become the next fitness influencer, you won’t need a specific workout plan. Take yourself half an hour every day (or as much time as you have available) and use it for example to:

  • Go on a walk
  • Do some yoga
  • Dance
  • Ride the bike
  • Swim
  • Move in between, e. g. while brushing your teeth

The main point is that it should serve you. It might take some time to find the kind of sport you are passionate about, and that keeps you motivated. But it will be worth it!

Goal Two: Lose (Belly-)Fat

For many, the main motivations to be active is to lose excess body fat. To achieve this goal, you can try:

  • HIIT
  • Cardio
  • Tabata

→ Something that raises your heartbeat

To find these types of workouts, YouTube is an excellent platform. Dozens of fitness YouTubers like Chloe Ting, Pamela Reif, or Popsugar fitness offer free bodyweight workouts.

No matter if you are a beginner or an advanced, you will find something to raise your fitness and to lose annoying fat. At best, try to work out four times a week and extent your routine when you feel more powerful.

Also, this is easily doable at home without any equipment than a yoga mat.

Goal Three: Build Muscles

For men, building muscles is mostly the goal, while girls were always supposed to be thin. But many girls replaced this outdated thinking with the wish to be strong and defined, which is impressive!

By following the workouts on top, you will build muscles. But not as defined as you might wish. To really build muscles, weight training is the best way. Bodyweight training will keep you fit, but lifting a barbell is what grows your muscles.

You shouldn’t start weight training without professional guidance. When you do the exercises incorrectly, you risk harming your body instead of promoting him. It might be helpful to sign up in the next fitness studio. There is already the equipment you need, and on top of that, you can find a teacher to show you how to use weights without injuring.

Besides the workouts, your diet has an enormous influence when it comes to achieving a specific body shape. However, sport is always good, and a strict diet is just an addition. Remember that whether you want to be more active or want to build more muscles, your workouts should be about fun and health!
