You’re not living, you’re only existing!

Live a little.

What is a life well lived?

The question may come as a trick question to some. I pondered a bit and arrived at an overly simplistic answer, but our lives are everything but simple—a web of chaos labeled as relationships all wrapped and held by a flimsy film of willpower.

A life well lived should be one where we have purpose, meaning, and fulfillment. A life full of passions and deep, meaningful relationships.

Essentially, it is a life where we live true to ourselves and our values. And of course, a life not well lived should be the opposite.

Perhaps it’s a day job, or maybe school, college, or perhaps even the struggle to attain these statuses. We all find ourselves being pulled towards a vortex of expectations, a norm, of what should or shouldn’t be.

Perhaps it is for the best, or perhaps we have settled for whatever life gives and not what life offers.

All I offer is questions, no answers from me. Ask yourself if it’s worth it. If you’re going to look back at your life and not regret your time spent doing what you’re currently doing, or what you plan on doing, since the past can only be lessons and cannot be changed.

Ask yourself if you have something you wish you were doing. Perhaps it’s dropping out of school to pursue your dreams or it's quitting your job to work on that idea finally you think is great. Or maybe it’s just lying down in your room doing nothing.

Ask yourself why you’re not doing these things you know for sure would give you a sense of fulfillment.

A sense of purpose and the drive to go all out doing these things. A life where you live as you want, free from regrets, and most importantly, a life with peace of mind.

If you’ve read any of my other pieces, then you know I’m not the epitome of optimism. Just like I’m asking you to, I have also asked myself these questions of why, and I’ve soon come to realize the immense sadness of reality.

My responses are too noble to be dismissed, too obvious to contemplate and my reasoning too filled with holes to be considered sound. Perhaps I don’t enjoy my current situation but I also can’t bear to bring myself out of it.

Regardless of what your answers are though, we can always try. It’s a whole science, how to mix what reality has given and what to take from the endless offers of life. So, at the end of the day, it’s all about choice, whether you’re up for the adventure or not.

PS: Don’t ask me how to figure out the science, even I don’t have my life figured out. Or if you have the science figured out already you can always share your thoughts and opinions in the comments.

Don’t forget to follow if you like contemplative and introspective writing like this.
