Feeling lost and confused like you don’t know where you belong can be a difficult time in life.
At the age of sixteen, I left school with five GCSEs, (three Ds and two Es). My future looked bleak. No prospects, no qualifications to brag about, and no idea what I wanted to do in life.
I took a short-term job in a factory and then moved on to an apprenticeship in engineering. To say I’d prefer to be slicing my eyeballs with razor blades than studying engineering would be an understatement.
But I had no idea what else to do.
No clarity and confidence in my abilities or intelligence. But after four gruelling years, I got through it. Only to spend the next five years in the exact same soul-sucking job I had just qualified for.
But that’s not where the story ends…
I made an escape plan.
