15 days into Medium, 50 followers, 3K reads, 150 fans — All Organic
What exactly did I do?
What are my initial expectations from Medium?
Honestly, nothing.
I've been writing my entire life, and it's always been scribbling in a rough book.
I had no idea what to expect when I first started publishing on Medium. I'd heard the platform was a great place for writers to share their ideas and stories, but I wasn't sure if my content would be well-received or have any impact.
To my surprise and delight, I had 50 followers, 3,000 reads, and 150 fans within just 15 days of publishing on Medium.
What did I do?
I have just been my true self.
Posted 2 stories in this 15-day period.
I commented on things that I liked to read. I wrote things that I would love to read sometime later. My Medium profile is simply a personal journal for me. I don’t want my scribbles to be lost. If people read them and talk about them to me, it's okay. If they don’t, that’s okay too. I have always been a people-pleaser, and my writing, at least, should not be the same.
So, this growth was entirely organic. I did not rely on spamming my friends on other platforms or fellow writers for “Follow to Follow” on this platform. It was all due to the power of the Medium community and their writers' apathy.
How am I feeling now?
Just about right.
I am not ecstatic about the 50 followers or disappointed that it’s just 50 and not more. I just wanted to build a writing habit, and I am on course with it.
I am grateful for the opportunity to share my ideas and stories on Medium, and I am grateful for the support of all of my followers, readers, and fans. I'm excited to keep sharing my content and engaging with the community on this incredible platform.
I hope this article inspires other writers and creators to keep at it and never underestimate the power of their ideas and talent. No matter where you are starting from, with hard work and dedication, you can achieve great things.
