We have been touching money for decades now and despite how many black millionaires exist in our country, we still find ourselves at the bottom of the totem pole. We still find ourselves not making any progress as a race and we still find ourselves having no economic power.

We have rich entertainers, athletes, politicians, and entrepreneurs. None of these people are investing in the black community. None of these people are creating black corporations.

None of these people are donating to historically black colleges and universities. None of these people have started black non-profit organizations.

We have had access to money for decades now and despite how many black thousandaires exist in our country, we still find ourselves at odds with each other. We still find ourselves shooting each other. We still find ourselves not helping each other.

We have barbers, hair stylists, mechanics, and day care owners. None of these people give back to their communities. None of these people work together to create opportunities for their communities. None of these people attempt to buy back their neighborhoods.

When it comes to the topic of reparations, it is my humble opinion that the black community would not benefit from such a deed. I understand the concept of giving the descendants of American slaves monetary apologies, but I do not believe such apologies would be a great reward.

I believe reparations would not be a great reward because money has not improved our community yet. Here are 2 reasons why blacks do not need reparations.

REASON #1: MONEY HAS NOT IMPROVED THE BLACK COMMUNITY

As I said in the first paragraph, there are hundreds of millionaires that have been made in our community and despite how many we have, our race has not advanced.

If you combine the net worth of every successful black rapper, you would get billions of dollars. These black rappers have yet to wake up and realize the power that they have.

These black rappers have yet to understand the strength in numbers. They have yet to combine their wealth and put those combinations into our community.

We have yet to see black politicians come together to improve the conditions within black neighborhoods. We have yet to see them create jobs, clean up neighborhoods, open community centers, or establish educational scholarships. We have yet to see them pass laws that would benefit the community instead of hindering us.

Our black actors and athletes are in the same category as our rappers and politicians. They do absolutely nothing for our people. They obtain their wealth and keep it all to themselves.

No matter how many of us become millionaires, we still see black-on-black crime. We still see our men becoming drug dealers. We still see our women becoming strippers.

REASON #2: BLACKS RESULT TO VIOLENCE OVER MONEY

We have black drug dealers who cannot share the same territory despite them all being able to profit. We have black drug dealers who will rob each other for their products and who will kill each other for their customers.

One drug dealer could have $50k in their pocket and another could also have $50k in their pocket. Both dealers will find themselves in the middle of a street war simply because they do not wish to coexist.

Both dealers will find themselves looking over their shoulders because they refuse to join forces and make money together. Both dealers have $50k to their name, but they are so greedy they want to be the only ones making money. This is one of many problems we have in the black community.

We have rappers who make millions of dollars and they have yet to find themselves exempt from gun violence. How many rappers have we lost this year? How many rappers have we lost last year? How many rappers do we continue to lose each year?

We do not see pop artists dying from gun violence. We do not see rock artists dying from gun violence. We do not see country artists dying from gun violence. We only see rappers dying from gun violence. Money will not and has not saved us.
